CHRISTY FAISON

Christy Faison, The Village Acting Studio

Always the new kid growing up, Christy found comfort going to the movies. She fell in love with storytelling and storytellers especially actors. She moved to LA and made it her mission to work with actors. Naturally, casting was the perfect fit.

Her casting career started in the Talent and Casting department at FOX over 20 years ago. Since then she has cast numerous half hour and drama pilots, series and movies for CBS, NBC, STARZ, HBO and IFC. She has worked with writer/directors: Aaron Sorkin, Sam Raimi, Jonathan Demme, Terrance Malik and many more.

Casting credits include working on The Newsroom, The Affair, SEAL Team, A Gifted Man, Ash vs Evil Dead, Men at Work, The Spoils Before Dying, Boss and Terrance Malik’s film Knight of Cups. Christy works with MFA filmmakers from USC and UCLA on projects that have gone on to win numerous awards at film festivals around the world. Christy partnered with Jami Rudofsky in 2017 since then they cast the EMMY nominated Conversations In LA, The Walking Dead: Red Machete also EMMY nominated, Stargate Origins, independent features including Rockbottom, Hangdog, Downeast and many more.

 

Teaching has grown out of a profound love working with actors during the casting process and coaching. She is a professor at UT Austin where she teaches on-camera acting technique. Both as a Casting Director and Teacher, Christy is a fearless advocate for actors is invested in nurturing their artistic voices and building a creative community.

Confidence. That’s what I got from coaching with Christy. Christy has a unique ability to pull out moments in your audition that are like nuggets of gold to an actor. She collaborates with you from script breakdown to wardrobe selection. Her unique insights help create a world around a fully fleshed out character.  She makes sure there are no moments left unexplored.
