A Bit About Christy

Always the new kid growing up, Christy found comfort going to the movies. She fell in love with storytelling and storytellers, especially actors. She moved to LA and made it her mission to work with actors. Naturally, casting was the perfect fit.

Her casting career began over 30 years ago in the Talent and Casting department at FOX. After her stint at FOX, she became an independent casting director. Since then she has cast numerous half hour and drama pilots, series and movies for CBS, NBC, STARZ, HBO and IFC. Some of her casting credits include The Newsroom, The Affair, SEAL Team, Ash vs Evil Dead, The Spoils Before Dying, Boss and Terrance Malik’s film Knight of Cups. Christy works with MFA filmmakers from USC and UCLA on projects that have gone on to win numerous awards at film festivals around the world. Christy partnered with Jami Rudofsky in 2017 since then they cast the EMMY nominated Conversations In LA, The Walking Dead: Red Machete also EMMY nominated, Stargate Origins, independent features including Rockbottom, Hangdog, Downeast and many more.

Teaching has grown out of a profound love working with actors during the casting process and coaching. Christy teaches in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta and New Zealand. She is an Adjunct Professor at UT Austin.

Both as a Casting Director and Teacher, Christy is a fearless advocate for actors and is invested in nurturing their artistic voices and building a creative community.

Los Angeles

Christy has been instrumental in my successes in the audition room. She is straightforward, no nonsense, truthful, and genuine. She has great attention-to-detail in identifying the needs of each actor, from your strengths and what you do best, to what needs improvement. I also love the feel of community, we have become a group of supportive, giving actors who go out of our way to help one another, and celebrate each other.

As an actor my craft has grown under Christy's guidance, I'm able to take bigger risks, make bolder choices and to push myself further. She has a special knack for honing in on areas of the work that don't ring as authentic, and a talent for bringing out the best in her actors. Her notes are forthright and specific, I'm always engaged in her class, and I'm excited to keep developing and growing as an artist under her guidance.

New York / Los Angeles

I’ve known Christy for years and continue to learn from her. She is the quintessential actor’s friend, and a master of script analysis. With an extensive and very impressive casting resume, her notes are always with both the character in mind, and tailored to how they fit on the individual actor. What more could you want in a teacher? I encourage all actors to learn from her…as do.
