Casting Director, Teacher, Coach

A Bit About Christy

Christy moved around a lot growing. Always the new kid in town, Christy found comfort going to the movies. She fell in love with actors and their ability to inhabit diverse characters and worlds. She moved to LA and made it her mission to work with actors. Naturally, casting was the perfect fit.

Christy’s casting career began over two decades ago in the Talent & Casting department at FOX. After her stint there, she ventured into independent casting, working closely with esteemed Casting Directors such as Jeanie Bacharach, Gillian O’Neill, and Lauren Grey. In 2011, she partnered with Casting Director Risa Bramon Garcia, and together they cast numerous series and pilots for major networks including CBS, NBC, and Showtime.

Casting credits include: Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed series "The Newsroom," "The Affair," "SEAL Team," the cult classic "Ash vs Evil Dead," and Terrence Malick's film "Knight of Cups."

In 2017, Christy co-cast the EMMY nominated “Conversations In LA,” “The Walking Dead: Red Machete” also EMMY nominated, “Stargate Origins,” and over a dozen independent features alongside her partner, Jami Rudofsky.

Teaching and Coaching has grown out of a profound love working with actors during the casting process. Christy teaches in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta and New Zealand. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas.

Both as a Casting Director, Coach and Teacher, Christy is a fearless advocate for actors and is invested in nurturing their unique artistic voices and building a creative community. When not in this beast mode, she can be found with her divine feline, cooking Italian food and cheering on her friends. She loves a good dinner party and her favorite question is "what else?"

Christy has been instrumental in my successes in the audition room. She is straightforward, no nonsense, truthful, and genuine. She has great attention-to-detail in identifying the needs of each actor, from your strengths and what you do best, to what needs improvement. I also love the feel of community, we have become a group of supportive, giving actors who go out of our way to help one another, and celebrate each other.

As an actor my craft has grown under Christy's guidance, I'm able to take bigger risks, make bolder choices and to push myself further. She has a special knack for honing in on areas of the work that don't ring as authentic, and a talent for bringing out the best in her actors. Her notes are forthright and specific, I'm always engaged in her class, and I'm excited to keep developing and growing as an artist under her guidance.

I’ve known Christy for years and continue to learn from her. She is the quintessential actor’s friend, and a master of script analysis. With an extensive and very impressive casting resume, her notes are always with both the character in mind, and tailored to how they fit on the individual actor. What more could you want in a teacher? I encourage all actors to learn from her…as do.
