On-Camera Fundamentals

ABOUT THIS CLASS

On-Camera Fundamentals is geared for the actor who needs more on-camera and scene study practice, the artist who is returning to the audition room after a hiatus and the actor new to auditioning.  

 

Over the course of 8 weeks, Master Teacher, Mara Casey teaches you the fundamentals of acting and auditioning.  Your weekly assignments and exercises will tackle different audition scenarios and skills, including but not limited to: co-stars, guest stars, and self-tapes. 

 

No matter where you are in your acting career, building a foundation sets you up for success. At the end of these 8 weeks, you will have the tools you need to audition with confidence, to make bold choices, trust your work and own your process.

All students work each week.

In person classes are held at The Village Acting Studio, 847 N. Hollywood Way

COURSE OVERVIEW

Week 1:

Welcome, Q&A, cold reads, "the biz" & your actor toolbox.

Week 2:

Co-star roles, tackling different genres and the importance of tone.

​

Week 3:

Scene work, audition preparation and developing your process.

 

Week 4:

The Art of the Self-tape conquering the technical so you can focus on the work.

 

Week 5 and 6:

Scene work and navigating the road blocks that stand in the way of your best work.

 

Week 7:

Creating your environment, props and action scenes

 

Week 8:

Mock auditions & mock casting with Guests.

All materials used in class are from previously produced and aired projects.  Everyone at The Village provides a safe, constructive learning experience for all students.)
